BOULDER, CO (May 2023) – The 43rd running of the BOLDERBoulder, Colorado’s largest road race, happens in just under one week on Monday, May 29. The starting gun will launch the first of 90 waves at 6:55 a.m., 5 minutes after the start of the wheelchair race.
The BOLDERBoulder team that plans and produces the race is prepared to manage the runners, joggers and walkers who come from all 50 states and more than one dozen countries for the race that Runner’s World named America’s Best All-Time 10k. Earlier this year, the BOLDERBoulder was recognized as the seventh largest road race in the United States for 2022, which is considered a recovering year for road races.
In reaction, Race Director, Cliff Bosley stated, “It is an honor to continue to be ranked as one of the largest road races in the USA, especially in a year following the pandemic as the sport of running continues to build back. It is also profoundly humbling that are recognized as being America’s All-Time Best 10k.”

Online race registration is now open at www.bolderboulder.com and will remain open through 9 a.m. on race day for anyone who wants to be a part of the day.
In-person registration will be available at the Pearl Street Mall on Saturday and Sunday, May 27th and May 28th from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. In-person registration will also be available on the race day at 5:30 a.m. in the start area.
The BOLDERBoulder will again feature some of the fastest runners in world in the International Team Challenge with men and women from Kenya, Mexico, Great Britain and Tanzania competing against some of the fastest U.S. runners, including BOLDERBoulder 2022 defending champion Leonard Korir. Korir, will again represent the U.S. as a member of the US ARMY World Class Athlete Program.
The women’s pro race will start at 11:11 a.m. with the men’s race following at 11:22 a.m. The finishers can watch the race on the video boards at Folsom Field on the CU Boulder campus with Olympians Frank Shorter and Alan Culpepper covering the play-by-play of the race and highlighting the spectacular CU stadium finish with 40,000 cheering the racers to the finish line.

Following the BOLDERBoulder pro races, the Memorial Day tribute will highlight the day honoring those American warriors who paid the ultimate sacrifice defending America’s freedom, and recognizing the men and women who have served and are currently serving. The Memorial Day Tribute, will include the presentation of the nation’s colors, a 21-gun salute by a Marine Corps Honor Guard, Colorado’s largest mass enlistment ceremony, six skydivers—each escorting a flag from each military service branch—and the singing of the national anthem followed by a military flyover. Some of these program features will be contingent on weather conditions.
