Joining survivors, fundraisers and supporters at DONNA 5K at TPC Sawgrass, Kinomap for Races will open the event to worldwide fundraising and participation through its course simulation platform

(Oct. 5, 2023) – The DONNA Foundation kicks off Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October with The DONNA 5K at TPC Sawgrass on Oct. 7. Kinomap for Races is proud to be filming the race course for treadmill runners and walkers around the world, in support of this worthy cause.

Celebrating its 16th running of the event, The DONNA 5K at TPC Sawgrass serves as the final race in the DONNA 2023 Fearless Series. The 5K event will take place on the “back nine” of THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, a beautiful stretch of the championship golf course property.

“We are honored to be part of this amazing event for such a worthy cause,” stated Gary McNamee, Managing Director of Kinomap, North America. “Everyone knows someone who has been affected by this terrible disease.”

Gary continued: “When developing this technology, a driving force for me was to help expand the fundraising reach of races such as the DONNA 5K at TPC Sawgrass. We aim to deliver not only the race, but the actual course, allowing fundraising runners the chance to see, hear and feel what those in the live event do. The goal is to make it FUN and just like the real thing.”

“We look forward to our 5K through beautiful TPC Sawgrass every year, and we know our runners, breast cancer survivors and friends across the community do as well. We’re appreciative of Kinomap’s desire to take our beautiful course to runners around the globe who support our efforts to serve those living with breast cancer. This will give runners who fundraise for The DONNA Foundation the chance to participate in our event right on their treadmill from home, through Kinomap for Race’s course simulation platform,” said Amanda Napolitano, Executive Director, The DONNA Foundation

The DONNA 5K at TPC Sawgrass will become a simulated race in the Kinomap app. A simulated race takes place on a treadmill or other cardio equipment, where the athlete can experience the elevation gains and drops of the course, see the sights and hear the spectators as if they were running on the course itself, with the pace of the video adjusting to the exact pace of the participant, ultimately feeling the thrill of crossing the finish line just like on race day.

Video of the race day experience is displayed in first person on your tablet, TV or smartphone. Event organizers can easily collect registration fees, promote charity fundraising, distribute swag and medals to simulated participants and offer in-video advertising, providing sponsors a highly targeted and global reach.

Events everywhere are invited to film their courses and upload them to Kinomap. Interested race directors can learn how their event can be included here.

About Kinomap for Races

Kinomap is a developer of a patented course simulator technology for treadmills and other cardio equipment. The company partners with marquee endurance events, creating a race day course simulation, capturing all the electricity and excitement of the event from a runner’s point of view for an interactive course preview of an event, or to train and visualize prior to race day. Entrants can also participate remotely and officially through running, cycling, and even rowing in their health club or living room. This can turn a local live foot race into an international multi-sport event, creating a wider opportunity for the race with a pay to participate experience, benefitting the race, its sponsors, its vendors, its charities and participants around the world.
