Denver, CO – The Denver Colfax Marathon, presented by Cigna Healthcare, welcomes Chevron as the 2024 race volunteer program sponsor. This partnership will allow for the marathon to continue its support of more than a thousand volunteers during the race weekend in May.
“Our volunteers are a major part of the marathon weekend,” said Andrea Dowdy, CEO of the Denver Colfax Marathon. “Without their time and energy, we wouldn’t be able to put on this three-day event every year. We are grateful for Chevron’s support in making our race weekend a success.”
The marathon recruits 1500 volunteers each year to ensure that race weekend operations run smoothly for runners and guests in Denver. Known as the “Marathon Race Crew”, the volunteer experience is fun, engaging and rewarding. This year, runners can look for purple shirts if they need help around the Health and Wellness Expo at Empower Field at Mile High, the finish line or anywhere along the racecourse.
“Fueling the spirit of community through every mile, Chevron is proud to be the volunteer sponsor of the Colfax Marathon,” said Katie Tate, community affairs advisor. “At Chevron, we invest millions of dollars in community organizations, and our employees spend thousands of hours volunteering. Partnering with the iconic Colfax Marathon, we’re racing towards a brighter, more connected future—one high-altitude step at a time!”
Chevron’s company volunteer month is May, which aligns with the month of the marathon. Chevron employees will be participating in the race weekend by running, walking, and volunteering.
“Our marathon race crew not only keeps the race events running seamlessly, but they also support our runners,” Dowdy said. “Thousands of our race participants are trying to achieve a personal goal or they’re running to raise funds and awareness for one of the 125 charities in our charity partners program. Our volunteers help us give each runner a memorable race day experience.”
The 18th Denver Colfax Marathon will take place May 17-19, 2024. The city’s only marathon weekend features eight races over 2 days, plus a health and wellness expo. Volunteer opportunities are still available, visit www.runcolfax.org and sign up under “volunteer”.
