Twin Cities-based training group of Paris Marathoner Dakotah Lindwurm to host All-Comers, High School, Professional miles at new Minneapolis track meet June 12
Minneapolis, MN – Minnesota Distance Elite, the training group of Team USA Paris Olympic Marathoner Dakotah Lindwurm and Athens Olympian Carrie Tollefson, has announced a new mile-focused track meet, the Mini-Apple Night of Miles. To be held at Minneapolis’s Washburn High School the evening of Wednesday, June 12, the meet will culminate in Invitational High School and Professional Miles under the lights. Registration for All-Comers heats, free kids dashes, and spectator tickets are available online at minnesotadistanceelite.org/night-of-miles.
“As a Twin Cities-based training group with athletes frequently competing nationally and internationally,” said Minnesota Distance Elite President Cody Mikl, “we thought it was important to give our athletes a high-level competition opportunity here at home in the Olympic year. We also view it as a great opportunity to strengthen our ties with our Twin Cities running community, offering a competition and spectating opportunity for our local supporters.”
“Having a high-level ‘home’ meet for our middle-distance athletes will aid them in their preparation for big meets in this Olympic summer,” said Minnesota Distance Elite Head Coach Chris Lundstrom, “including the US Olympic Trials in Eugene and an array of competitive meets on the domestic circuit later in the season.”
Elite athletes interested in competing should contact Coach Chris Lundstrom at coachlundo@gmail.com. To be considered for the Professional Invitational Heat, athletes should have run faster than 4:05 (mile)/3:46 (1500m) for men and 4:50 (mile)/4:24 (1500m) for women since December 1, 2022.
The night will kick off with the Mini-Apple Mini-Miles–free, untimed 50- and 100-yard dashes for children 12 & under. Those will be followed by multiple All-Comers mile heats then Open and Invitational High School Boys’ & Girls’ Miles featuring some of the top scholastic runners from Minnesota and the Upper Midwest. And the meet will end with Invitational Men’s & Women’s Miles featuring some of the best milers in the country from both Minnesota Distance Elite and some “away team” rivals competing for bragging rights and a prize purse.
Said Mikl, “We look forward to putting on a show for our hometown fans this June. We hope this meet becomes an annual Minnesota track tradition.”

Minnesota Distance Elite – formerly Team USA Minnesota – was founded in 2001 and is based in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul.
