Vancouver WA The 2nd annual Shuffle for Share 5K is a FREE virtual event with a mission to make a difference and help those in need. Although walkers and runners won’t be together physically, they will be together in spirit as they raise funds for SHARE, a local non-profit who lead the hungry and homeless to self-sufficiency by providing food, shelter, housing, education, advocacy and compassion through the strength of community.
Sherri McMillan, founder of Why Community, says “there is so much need around the holidays and in 2020 this event raised over $17,000 which helped a lot of local families struggling through some challenging times. If each participant from last year brought a friend, we’d double our funds raised and help so many more people. It’s a wonderful thing to do with friends and family around Thanksgiving to support our community.”
Karissa Schoene, race director for the event and owner of Why Racing Events, explains “100% of the donations go directly to Share because we use Leftover supplies and who doesn’t love Thanksgiving Leftovers? To go with the Thanksgiving theme, participants with receive Leftover race shirts, medals and SWAG from past events. It will be a fun, no-frills Thanksgiving event with 100% of the donations going to help those in need.”
The event website encourages participants to complete their 5K anywhere around the world including a treadmill, a local path or favorite running/walking route any time from November 21st – November 28th during Thanksgiving week. Participants are encouraged to participate solo or with a small group of family/friends to celebrate Thanksgiving, a time to be thankful for what we have and to help those in need.

Our runners and walkers are going to be shocked when they see what they get for registering for free and making a donation to Share. We have an amazing community!”
The registration site explains when you register, your registration fee will be comped and you will register by donation with 100% going directly to SHARE! Why Racing is asking for a minimum $10 donation but encourages athletes to donate as much as possible to help those in need. Register at https://shuffle4share.raceroster.com/
Each runner or walker will receive a Leftover Shirt, Medal and SWAG Bag full of goodies. Overall and age group awards will be provided to top finishers and all runners/walkers will receive a finishers’ certificate. There will be an official Photo Album, Video and a virtual awards ceremony.
