CARMEL, INDIANA – The 50 States Marathon Club has selected the Carmel Marathon as the host event for their first-quarter reunion in 2022. The reunion will take place during the Carmel Marathon Weekend on April 9, 2022.
The 50 States Marathon Club is an organization for runners who have completed, or are attempting to complete, a full marathon (26.2 miles or longer) within each of the 50 states in the US. The unique club has grown to almost 5000 members representing all 50 states, Washington DC, and 22 foreign countries. Approximately 1700 members have succeeded and finished an event in all 50 states, and over 150 have completed at least two rounds of the circuit. One consideration in choosing the Carmel Marathon was the fact there are 137 members from Indiana, with 62 having already completed all 50 states.
“We are extremely proud that the Carmel Marathon was chosen by the 50 States Marathon Club to host a reunion,” said Race Director Todd Oliver. “One component of the selection process is runner reviews and we were told we scored very high. We are excited to showcase our event and city to runners from every state of the country.”
The 50 States Marathon Club selects their quarterly reunion location by looking for a marathon with a proven track record of having a well-organized event and a quality running course with fantastic on-course support, as well as other having amenities like race shirts and medals that exceed expectations. Easy access from a nearby airport and multiple lodging options, along with a top-tier expo, are a plus.
“We have known for some time the Carmel Marathon surpassed all of our requirements to host a reunion and we have had it on our shortlist for the past couple of years,” said Dave Bell, President of the 50 States Marathon Club. “We are thrilled that it was selected for our 2022 second quarter reunion.”
