BATON ROUGE, LA – FRESHJUNKIE Racing is thrilled to announce that three of its marquee events have been recognized as the best half marathons in their respective states. The prestigious accolades were bestowed upon The Louisiana Marathon, the War Eagle Run Fest, and the Mississippi Gulf Coast Marathon, solidifying FRESHJUNKIE Racing’s commitment to delivering exceptional race experiences across the Gulf Coast region.

The Louisiana Marathon, held annually in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was honored as the premier Half Marathon event in the state. Renowned for its scenic course, vibrant atmosphere, and unwavering community support, The Louisiana Half Marathon continues to attract runners from all corners of the globe. This recognition is a nice pairing to the Louisiana Marathon, which was named as the Top Marathon by RaceRaves in 2023.

In Alabama, the War Eagle Run Fest emerged victorious as the top Half Marathon, showcasing Auburn’s spirit and hospitality to participants and spectators alike. With its diverse terrain and challenging yet rewarding route, the War Eagle Run Fest has become a staple in the Alabama running calendar.

Meanwhile, the Mississippi Gulf Coast Half Marathon claimed the title of the best Half Marathon in Mississippi, captivating runners with its stunning coastal views and Southern charm. This event, held in December along the picturesque Gulf Coast, epitomizes the essence of Southern hospitality while offering participants a memorable and rewarding race experience. Not to be outdone by its sister race in Louisiana, the MGC Marathon was voted the Top Marathon in 2023 as well.

“We are immensely proud to see three of our flagship events recognized as the best in their respective states,” said Mike Wattigny, Marketing Director of FRESHJUNKIE Racing. “These accolades are a testament to our team’s dedication to delivering exceptional races that celebrate the spirit of community, athleticism, and adventure. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all participants, volunteers, partners, and supporters who make these events possible.”

FJR remains committed to raising the bar for race organization and fostering a sense of camaraderie within the running community. As the organization looks ahead to future events, it continues to strive for excellence in every aspect of race production.

Collaborative partners are key to hosting a successful event and play a huge role in being voted the best in the state. In Alabama, Auburn-Opelika Tourism and Auburn University contributed to the War Eagle Run Fest being a finalist as the Sports Events Tourism Association Event Partnership of the Year for 2023 in markets under 500,000. The Mississippi Gulf Coast Marathon was born from a partnership with Coastal Mississippi tourism and continues to promote Southern Mississippi. Visit Baton Rouge helps to promote the ‘Running Festival with Lagniappe’ to showcase the vibrant Louisiana culture to runners from around the world.
